Joseph Belville (DOB: 10-05-70) is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on August 31, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges against him.  Belville was charged yesterday with multiple felony counts by Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, including first-degree assault of an at-risk adult (F ), aggravated robbery (F3), robbery of an at-risk adult (F ), vehicular eluding (F ), menacing (F ), and possession of a weapon by a previous offender (F ).

The charges allege that Belville, who was wanted by U.S. Marshals for escape, jumped into a vehicle at I-70 and Federal Boulevard on August 5, 2004 and stabbed the 61-year-old driver.  The victim fled.  The charges allege that Belville led police on a chase that ended in a crash at 24th and Lowell Boulevard when the stolen vehicle rammed a U.S. Marshal’s car.  Belville  remains in federal custody pending his Denver County Court date.
