Man charged in murder of wife

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with the murder of his wife and attempted murder of his mother-in-law.

Raymond Allen (DOB 03-03-73) is charged with first-degree murder (F1), attempted first-degree murder (F2), first-degree assault (F3), and false information (M3).

The Denver Police Department received a 9-1-1 call on August 24, 2004 at approximately 12:30 a.m. to 1825 Arapahoe Street on an assault.  Police found 54-year-old Sharon Fordyce and her 30-year-old daughter Dorothy Allen on the floor with multiple lacerations.  Allen was pronounced dead later that morning and Fordyce is recuperating. The charges allege that the Allen’s were getting a divorce and Raymond had made threats in the past.

Allen will be formally advised of the charges on September 1, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in Denver County Courtroom 12T.
