STATE EDUCATION BOARD MEMBER CHARGED WITH THEFT

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed charges against a woman accused of stealing more than $34,000 over the last two years from the bank in which she worked.

Christine Baca (DOB: 11-20-66) is charged with theft (F3) and computer crime (F3).

The charges allege that between July 2002 and August 2004, Baca used her work computer at Bank of Denver to transfer money into accounts that she could access and withdraw from.  She was terminated from the bank in August when phony transactions were first discovered by bank personnel.

Baca voluntarily surrendered on her arrest warrant this morning, completed the booking process and is expected to be released on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond.

Baca is a member of the Colorado State Board of Education representing the 7th Congressional District.
