MURDER SUSPECT CHARGED

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last weekend.  16-year-old Carold Peoples died after being shot near Falcon Park at Maxwell and Atchison Streets in Denver.

Christopher Baldwin (DOB: 3-14-83) is charged with first degree murder (F-1).

The charge alleges that on April 17, 2004 Baldwin was involved in an earlier altercation with the victim involving money.  He allegedly fired at Peoples from his car as the victim was standing outside.  Denver police later identified Baldwin as a suspect and he was taken into custody without incident.

Baldwin is currently being held in Denver County Jail with no bond.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 12T on April 23, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. for his formal advisement on the charges.
