SWIM COACH PLEADS GUILTY TO HARASSMENT

Charles Carey (DOB: 3-9-64) pleaded guilty today to harassment, a class three misdemeanor.  Carey had originally been charged in 2002 with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child – pattern of conduct in a case that alleged he had fondled a teenage member of a swim team he was coaching.

Carey went to trial on the original charges in 2003 but the trial ended with a hung jury.  Carey’s plea today resulted in immediate sentencing in which he will serve one year of probation.
