THIRD PERSON CHARGED IN DOUBLE SHOOTING

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a third person in connection with the murders of 19-year-old Tiffany Witter and 23-year-old Chris Skipwith last weekend in Denver.

Misty Chavez (DOB: 3-11-81) is charged with two counts of accessory to a crime, murder in the first-degree (F4).

The charges allege that Chavez was in a vehicle with Aaron Bernal and Joann Redwillow on September 11, 2004 when the two allegedly conspired to murder Witter and Skipwith.  The charges also allege she was driving the vehicle as the pair tried to cross the border into Mexico to avoid arrest and prosecution.

Chavez, Bernal and Redwillow remain in custody in the Hudspeth County Jail in Texas.  They have waived extradition and are expected to return to Colorado within the next two weeks to face charges.
