MAN CHARGED IN ANTIQUE THEFTS

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a man accused in a series of burglaries at local antique dealers.

Rusty Cook (DOB: 1-19-79) is charged with theft by receiving – series (F3).

The charge alleges that Cook has burglarized numerous antique shops dating back to July 2003, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of antiques.  Denver police executed a search warrant last week in Denver recovering more than $250,000 worth of stolen items.

Cook remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  His bond is set at $25,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on January 30, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charge.

The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 3 felony is up to 12 years in prison.
