HUNTING SCAM PROMPTS HUNT FOR WANTED MAN

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with a large hunting scam he is accused of pulling off last year.

Orlando “Jake” Cornay (DOB: 5-12-74) is charged with theft (F4).  He is currently at large.

The scam appears to have started in the spring of 2003 when Cornay operated a company called “Ultimate Outdoors.”  He advertised for hunters who were interested in leasing hunting land.  The charge alleges that Cornay took nearly $10,000 from at least 16 different people but never leased any hunting land.  The investigation is continuing as investigators search for Cornay.  It is also likely that there are additional victims.

Anyone with information about Cornay’s whereabouts or additional victims should contact the Denver District Attorney’s Office at 720-913-9171.  Cornay is also a convicted sex offender who has failed to register.  He is wanted by Jefferson County for failing to appear on a probation violation.
