CO-DEFENDANT CHARGED IN MURDER CASE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a second Denver woman in a murder case today after her arrest early this morning in Michigan.

Felicesha Cox (DOB 8-3-83) is charged with one count of first-degree murder (F1) in connection with the stabbing death of 20-year-old Golden Barefield last summer.

Barefield was stabbed on July 31, 2003 while trying to intervene in a fight between several women.  The Denver District Attorney charged Demika Rogers (DOB 7-6-79) with Barefield’s murder on August 25, 2003. The investigation has continued, and the Denver Police Department identified Cox as a suspect in the case.  She was arrested by members of the United States Marshal Service in Battle Creek, Michigan yesterday morning (Friday, February 5, 2004).  She remains in custody at the Calhoun County Jail.  The extradition process can take up to 90 days if a defendant does not waive extradition.

Demika Rogers awaits arraignment on 2-10-04 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver

District Court, division 17.
