VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CHARGES FILED IN COUPLE’S DEATH

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed charges today against a man accused of killing an elderly couple in a car crash last month.

Fredrick Culp (DOB: 6-16-75) is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide (F4).

The charges allege that Culp was driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on Mississippi Avenue when he broadsided a car at Monroe Street.  86-year-old Clinton Andersen died at the scene.  His wife, 83-year-old Sophie Andersen, died a short time later at the hospital.  The crash happened on October 3, 2004 at about 11:45 a.m.

Culp has been released from custody on $30,000 bond and is scheduled to be formally advised of the charges on December 6, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
