CHARGES FILED IN ARSON SPREE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man accused of wandering around a Denver neighborhood setting cars on fire.

David Dinsmore (DOB: 8-30-83) is charged with five counts of second-degree arson (F4), seven counts of first-degree criminal trespass (F5), and theft (M3).

The charges allege that in the early morning hours of June 9, 2004 Dinsmore wandered around the neighborhood near Clarkson Street and 1st Avenue breaking into cars and setting them on fire.  He is accused of breaking into 7 cars and setting (or trying to set) 5 of them on fire.  The theft charge alleges he stole a watch from one of the vehicles.

Dinsmore remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  His bond has been set at $10,000.

He is scheduled to be formally advised of the charges against him on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
