GARRETT FOUND
GUILTY OF MURDER
A Denver jury has
convicted Michael Garrett of first-degree murder in the death of
a former girlfriend. Chandra Johnson-Richardson was shot and
killed in January 2002 in her garage as she was returning home
late at night. Garrett was found later with a self-inflicted
gunshot, but survived.
Denver Deputy
District Attorneys Mychael Dave and Kerri Lombardi did not
object to Garrett going to immediate sentencing this afternoon.
After hearing from the victim’s family, Garrett was sentenced to
a mandatory term of life in prison without parole. Garrett was
also found guilty on a misdemeanor charge of violating a
restraining order and was credited with time already served in
jail on that charge.
