Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged Carlos Gomez (DOB: 10-5-71) in connection with a shooting January 3, 2004 that left Robert Meija dead.

Meija was with a group of people at the Lookin’ Good Lounge at 1st Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard who confronted a man seen breaking into cars in the parking lot.  The man sprayed the group with a chemical spray and fired shots as he ran off.  Meija and others gave chase, and Meija was shot while struggling with the suspect.  Others held the suspect until police arrived.

Gomez is charged with first-degree murder after deliberation (F1), and three counts of attempted first-degree murder (F2).
