MOM CHARGED IN DEADLY DUI CRASH

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a 30-year-old mother with numerous felony counts in connection with a DUI crash that left one of her children dead last week.

Sandi Healey (DOB: 1-18-74) is charged with child abuse resulting in death (F2), vehicular homicide (F3), child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury (F3), vehicular assault (F3), two counts of child abuse (M), third-degree assault (M), DUI and reckless driving.

The charges allege that Healey was driving under the influence of alcohol on August 31, 2004 with her four children in the car when she crashed on I-70 near Sheridan Boulevard.  2-year-old Samantha Marlar was thrown from the car and died at the scene.

Healey remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  Her bond has been set at $100,000.  She will be formally advised of the charges on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 9 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
