NEW CHARGES FILED IN MULTIPLE MURDERS

A Denver Grand Jury has returned superceding indictments against the father and son accused of murdering four people and injuring two others last August.

The “superceding” indictment against Michael Sandoval adds 8 new charges to what he was already facing.  Those new charges are: four counts of first-degree murder after deliberation (F1) and four counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder after deliberation (F2).

Edward Herrera (DOB: 8-2-52) faces 4 new charges in addition to what he is already facing.  Those new charges are: four counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder after deliberation (F2).

These additional charges by indictment allege that Sandoval participated in the murders of Rose Amador, Blanca Dueñas-Balbuena, Sally Mendoza and Bob Pacheco, and that he and his father, Edward Herrera, conspired together to commit the murders.

Sandoval is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court, division 13, on January 15, 2004, at 8:30 a.m.  Herrera is scheduled to appear in the same courtroom on January 16, 2004 at 1:30 p.m.
