Youth Sentenced in Police
Shooting Incident
Darryl Hunter
was sentenced this morning for his role in shooting at
Denver
police officers in November 2002. He will serve 6 years in the
Youthful Offender System.
Hunter had been convicted at trial of three
counts of assault in the first degree. He was also
convicted of three counts of menacing. The judge
originally sentenced Hunter to 10 years for each assault charge,
and 3 years for each menacing charge, ordering his assaults to
run consecutively and the menacing charges to run concurrently.
Hunter’s prison sentence has been suspended upon condition of
successfully completing 6 years at YOS. He was not given credit
for the 14 months already served in jail.
