Youth Sentenced in Police Shooting Incident

Darryl Hunter was sentenced this morning for his role in shooting at Denver police officers in November 2002.  He will serve 6 years in the Youthful Offender System.

Hunter had been convicted at trial of three counts of assault in the first degree.  He was also convicted of three counts of menacing.  The judge originally sentenced Hunter to 10 years for each assault charge, and 3 years for each menacing charge, ordering his assaults to run consecutively and the menacing charges to run concurrently.  Hunter’s prison sentence has been suspended upon condition of successfully completing 6 years at YOS.  He was not given credit for the 14 months already served in jail.
