Ex-foster father charged with second sexual assault case

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed a second set of charges against a man accused of sexually assaulting a foster child.

Joseph Lujan (DOB 06-03-45) has been charged with four different counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F3 & F4).

Lujan was charged last week with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old foster child last May.  The investigation has continued, revealing another victim, a 7-year-old girl who was assaulted while in his care in 2001.  (She is now 10 year’s old).

Lujan and his wife had been foster parents for several years for a private agency serving several front range counties.  (The foster home was not licensed by Denver County and is not a current, licensed foster care facility.)

Lujan was arrested November 3, 2004.  He remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, to be formally advised of the new charges on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 9 a.m.  He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the first case on December 2, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in Denver County Court room 472W.
