MAN SENTENCED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

MacFranklin Alexander (DOB: 7-19-76) was sentenced in Denver District Court today in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old female whom he knew through his work as a music leader at a Denver area church in 2002.

Alexander, who was originally charged with sexual assault on a child pattern of abuse (F3) and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F4), pleaded guilty earlier to attempted sexual assault on a child (F5).

Alexander has already served more than a year in jail, and was sentenced to 8-years-probation.  The terms of his probation include completing the Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation Program, agreeing to any surveillance recommended by his probation officer including electronic and GPS monitoring, having no contact with anyone under 18-years-old, completing a substance abuse program including testing, obeying his restraining order and registering as a sex offender.

The victim’s mother and father addressed the court prior to the sentencing.  Alexander then apologized to the family.
