Woman charged in stabbing death

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of her common-law husband that occurred this past weekend. 36-year-old Roberto Orenday (02-08-72)  was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died.

Linda Maestas (01-01-61) has been charged with Second-Degree Murder (F2).

On June 18, 2004, police were called to a home on the 3400 block of Marion Street in Denver where they found a man lying on the ground suffering from a stab wound. The charges allege that Maestas and Orenday were involved in an altercation shortly before Orenday was fatally stabbed.

Maestas remains in Denver County Jail. She will be formally advised of the charges against her on June 25, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 12T.
