VINCENT MARTINEZ CHARGED

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed charges against a Denver man in connection with a domestic violence assault that occurred last weekend.

Vincent Martinez (DOB: 04-30-62) has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault (F4) and one count of false imprisonment (F5).

The charges allege that Martinez assaulted his girlfriend on May 17, 2004 and that he assaulted her again on July 11, 2004 while refusing to let her leave her home.  Martinez fled the home as police arrived and later surrendered without incident.  (The investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred at the home continues as a separate investigation.)

Martinez remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  Bond is set at $10,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 9:00 to be formally advised of the charges.
