SECOND MOTHER CHARGED IN NEWBORN DEATH

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr. has formally charged a 29-year-old woman today in connection with the death of her newborn baby boy two weeks ago.

Erin Pendleton (05-17-75) is charged with first-degree murder (F1) and child abuse resulting in death (F2).

The charges allege that on the night of June 25, 2004 Pendleton gave birth to a baby boy and left him in a trash can in the restroom at Legends Bar and Grill, located in the 200 block of Milwaukee Street in Denver.  The body of the infant was discovered by a janitor early Saturday morning June 26, 2004.

Pendleton remains in custody in the Denver County Jail where she is being held without bond. She will be formally advised of the charges tomorrow, July 9th, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
