Man charged with robbery of elderly woman

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with the robbery of an 83-year-old woman.

Richard Pierson (DOB:  09-02-52) is charged with aggravated robbery (F3).

The charge alleges that at 7:45 a.m. at a bus stop near the 4100 block of Colfax Avenue, Pierson sprayed Charlotte Clark in the face with pepper spray.  Pierson fled with Clark’s purse and another bag.  A witness at the bus stop chased after Pierson and held him till police arrived.

He remains in custody in the Denver County Jail and will appear in the Denver County Court on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in room 12T to be advised of the charge.
