Man charged in connection with woman’s death

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with the death of a 43-year-old woman whose body was found along railroad tracks in Englewood.

Mario Rios (DOB: 08-03-81) is charged with first-degree murder (F1), first-degree arson (F3) and second-degree arson (F4).  Charges were filed last Friday.

A railroad engineer discovered the body of Sabra Lomax (DOB: 06-05-61) on railroad tracks near South Raritan Street and West Yale Avenue late Wednesday night, June 16, 2004.  Also that night firefighters were called to Lomax’s townhome after neighbors reported a fire.  Her car, which had been burned, was later recovered from Sloan Lake.

Rios was arrested Friday, June 18, 2004 and remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  He will be advised of the charges tomorrow,  June 29, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 12T.
