MAN CHARGED IN DOMESTIC KIDNAPPING/ASSAULT

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with a kidnapping and assault case that occurred last Monday.

Robert Roeder (DOB: 11-21-74) is charged with sexual assault (F3), second-degree burglary (F3), second-degree kidnapping (F4), stalking (F4), criminal mischief (F4), third-degree assault (M1) and violation of a protective order (M2).

The charges allege that Roeder broke into a home in the 1100 block of Downing and assaulted a woman there.  As Denver police responded to reports of a woman screaming, two neighbors used a ladder to help the victim escape through a back window.  Roeder was then taken into custody a short time later.

Roeder remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  His bond is set at $50,000.  He will appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on September 14, 2004 at 9 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
