MAN CHARGED WITH ABUSE FOR BURNING CHILD IN TUB

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man accused of burning a 3-year-old girl by placing her in a tub of scalding water.

Edward Romero (DOB: 8-18-77) is charged with felony child abuse (F3).

The charge alleges that Romero was caring for his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter on January 27, 2004 when he placed her in a bathtub of hot water that caused severe burns.  The girl was brought to Children’s Hospital later that evening for treatment by her mother.

Romero remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  His bond has been set at $150,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. to be advised of the charge.
