Man sentenced for burning a child in tub

A man accused of burning a 3-year-old girl by placing her in a tub of scalding water has been sentenced.

27-year-old Edward Romero (DOB: 08-18-77) appeared in Denver District Court today and was sentenced to 22 years in the Department of Corrections plus 5 years mandatory parole.

Romero was caring for his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter on January 27, 2004 when he placed her in a bathtub of hot water causing severe burns.  The girl was taken to Children’s Hospital later that evening for treatment by her mother.  Romero pled guilty to the child abuse charge on June 17, 2004.
