Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with a fatal car accident in Denver.

Ramon David Romero (08-31-48) is charged with Vehicular Homicide (F3) and DUI.

On July 18, 2004 police responded to a call concerning a five car accident with injuries at Alameda Ave. and Holly St. in Denver. The charges allege that Romero was traveling eastbound on Alameda at a high rate of speed when his vehicle stuck Sonja Devries’ (06-22-85) vehicle, which was stopped at a red light.  This impact caused a chain reaction involving three other vehicles. The charges also allege that Romero was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. Devries was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Ramon remains in Denver County Jail. His bond is set at $75,000. He will appear for his Second Advisement on July 26, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12T.
