Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr. has formally charged a woman in connection with the death of Sabra Lomax whose body was found near railroad tracks in Englewood earlier this summer.

Veronica Tapia (7-21-84) is charged with first-degree murder (F1), first-degree arson (F3) and second-degree arson (F4).

Tapia is a co-defendant with Mario Rios who was charged earlier in the case with similar charges.

Tapia is currently in custody in the Denver County Jail and will be formally advised of the charges against her on August 4, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12T.

*The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.  See Colo. RPC 3.6
