DAD CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE IN DUI CASE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr., has formally charged a man accused of injuring his son in a motor vehicle accident while driving drunk.

Jose Valles-Pacheco (DOB: 04-12-75) is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury (F-3), vehicular assault-DUI (F-4), DUI, and third-degree assault (M-1).

The charges allege that on March 27, 2004, Valles-Pacheco hit a traffic light pole at 56th Avenue and Pena Boulevard while driving under the influence.  Valles-Pacheco’s two sons were in the vehicle at the time and his youngest son (DOB: 06-18-99), who was sitting in the front passenger seat, sustained serious injuries.  The other boy (DOB: 01-19-96) was uninjured.  Valles-Pacheco was arrested after being treated for his injuries at Denver Health Medical Center.

Valles-Pacheco remains in jail and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 12T on April 2, 2004 at 9:00 am to be advised of the charges against him.
