Vigil convicted in murder

 

A Denver jury has convicted a man of murder and other felony charges in connection with a shooting at a Denver home in May 2003.

 

Larry Vigil (DOB: 9-27-74) was found guilty of first-degree murder with extreme indifference (F1) in the shooting death of  19-year-old Michael Pacheco.  He was found guilty of attempted manslaughter and first-degree assault in the shooting of Rose Martinez who was 15 at the time.  He was found guilty of second-degree kidnapping, menacing, a violating a restraining order against Amanda Vigil who was 20 at the time.  He was also found guilty of vehicular eluding.

 

Just after midnight on May 17, 2003, Vigil showed up at a home in the 1000 block of Quitman Street where a rosary was taking place.  He tried to force Amanda Vigil to leave with him but family intervened.  As Vigil was leaving the home he fired a gun multiple times into the home, killing Pacheco and wounding Martinez.

 

Vigil will be sentenced on January 18, 2005 at 1:30 p.m.
