WEARE CONVICTED IN 2001 MURDER AT

TRIPPLE FAT AUTO SHOP

Darnell Weare (DOB: 5-7-59) was found guilty by a Denver jury today in connection with August 2001 murder of 41-year-old Sherman Banks.  Banks was found bound and gagged inside the Tripple Fat Auto Detail shop on East Colfax Avenue on August 8, 2001.

Today’s verdict follows a lengthy trial led by Denver Chief Deputy District Attorneys Verna Carpenter and Tim Twining, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Phil Brimmer.

Weare was convicted of first-degree felony murder, second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy and manslaughter.  He went to immediate sentencing in front of Denver District Court Judge Martin Eglehoff and was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 24 years.
