WHITE PLEADS GUILTY

Richard White (DOB: 10-29-72) pleaded guilty in Denver District Court today in connection with the murder of two women in Denver and the sexual assault of three other women.

White pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder (F1) and three counts of sexual assault with a deadly weapon (F2).  As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against White and he will cooperate in the search for the bodies of three other women that he claims to have killed.  Chief Deputy District Attorney Henry Cooper and Deputy District Attorney Kerri Lombardi, the prosecutors on the case, as well as Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, discussed the terms of the plea agreement with the family members of the murder victims and the surviving sexual assault victims prior to today’s hearing.  They are expected to attend White’s sentencing.

White will return to Denver District Court, division 16, on November 29, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. for sentencing.  He faces mandatory life in prison without parole on each of the two murder charges.  He faces 16 years-indeterminate-to-life in prison on each of the sexual assault charges.
