JOHN MAC WILES SENTENCED TO THE MAX

A man accused of two separate home-invasion and sexual assault attacks in 2003 has been sentenced to the maximum possible prison sentence.

39-year-old John “Mac” Wiles (DOB: 08-19-65) appeared in Denver District Court today and was sentenced to 84 years up to life in prison.  Wiles attacked a woman and her daughter in their Park Hill home in July 2003 and then attacked an out-of-state couple and their realtor in August 2003.  Denver Deputy District Attorney Carlos Samour spoke on behalf of the victims, some of whom were present in the courtroom, referring to Wiles’ acts as “some of the most horrific” he had ever seen as a prosecutor.

Wiles also made a brief remark, telling Denver District Court Judge Robert Hyatt, “Judge, whatever the family wants.”

Hyatt spoke at length about the crimes, telling Wiles he was a very dangerous man.  He then sentenced Wiles to a maximum aggravated sentence on the four felony counts that he had pleaded guilty to earlier: kidnapping, sexual assault, aggravated robbery, and attempted sexual assault on a child.
