Man charged with robbery and sexual assault of an elderly woman

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged a man in connection with the sexual assault and robbery of an elderly woman.

Charles Woodward (DOB:  11-13-68) is charged with two counts of sexual assault (F2), sexual contact-at risk adult (F3), aggravated robbery (F3), robbery-of an at risk adult (F3), first-degree burglary (F3), and first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft (F4).

The charges allege that, on October 18, 2004, an elderly woman returned to her Denver home after being out and was confronted by a man who broke into her home.  The man attacked her, robbed her, and fled in her vehicle.  Police later identified Woodward as a suspect.

Woodward was arrested on October 20, 2004.  He remains in custody, but no court date has been set at this time.
