Sixteenth-Street Peeper Sentenced
Yamil Yapor
(DOB 8-31-63)
was sentenced today for videotaping up women’s skirts last
summer along the
16th Street Mall. Yapor was
arrested after he was caught with the video camera on June 26,
2003. He pleaded guilty in December 2003 to one count of
unlawful sexual contact, a class 1 misdemeanor.
Chief Deputy DA Mike Pellow characterized Yapor as a man with
little compassion. Denver District Judge Gloria Rivera said
that Yapor likely did not understand the seriousness of his
crime as she sentenced him to two years probation, substance
abuse treatment, and no contact with anyone under eighteen. He
will also be required to register as a sex offender.
