MURDER SUSPECTS CHARGED

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally charged two men in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred last weekend.  45-year-old Steven Zacarias died after being stabbed at an apartment complex on Morrison Road in Denver.

Maxmillian Lewis (DOB: 11-13-58) and Vincent Wells (DOB 2-16-63) are charged with first degree murder (F-1).

The charge alleges that on May 3, 2004 Zacarias was stabbed as a result of an argument at his home.  A neighbor witnessed the fight and called 911.  Zacarias was transported to Denver Health Medical Center and later pronounced dead due to his injuries.  Lewis and Wells were both arrested at the Denver residence.

Wells and Lewis are currently being held in Denver County Jail with no bond.  They are scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 12T on Tuesday May 11, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. for a second advisement on the charge.
