CHARGES FILED IN DEADLY SHOOTING AT PARTY

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey filed murder charges against a man today in connection with a shooting at a party last weekend.

Jose Alba (DOB: 03-05-83) is charged with two counts of first-degree murder (F1), attempted murder (F2), first-degree assault (F3), and two counts of violent crime.

The charges allege that in the early morning hours of September 25, 2005 Alba opened fire at a party in the 2500 block of Clermont.  The shooting injured 23-year-old Aguomaro Guerraro and left 25-year-old Jose Manzanares and 18-year-old Mark Johnson dead.  Alba was tackled by other people at the party and sustained injuries as he was trying to flee the scene and struggled to get away.  He was taken to St. Anthony Central hospital to be treated for those injuries before being booked into the Denver County Jail.

Alba is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 9 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.  He remains in custody and is being held without bond.
