GRAND JURY INDICTS MAN CHARGED
EARLIER WITH MURDER
A man who was charged last week in connection with the May 2005
murder of Luis Romero and the wounding of another man has now
been indicted by a Denver Grand Jury in the case. The grand
jury returned identical charges:
Jose Alvarado-Juarez
(DOB: 06-28-82)
is charged by indictment with first-degree murder (F1),
attempted first-degree murder (F2) and first-degree
assault (F3).
Charges had to be filed by the “complaint and information”
process last week against Alvarado-Juarez after he was arrested
on a probable cause warrant. A grand jury investigation that
has been underway since shortly after the murder has continued,
resulting in today’s indictment. The earlier charges will now
be dismissed and the prosecution of the case will go forward
based on the indictment.
The indictment alleges that Alvarado-Juarez shot and killed
21-year-old Luis Romero and injured 26-year-old Christopher
Ramos after an altercation near 38th and Lipan in the
early morning hours of May 8, 2005.
Alvarado-Juarez's
next court appearance on the indictment has not been scheduled
yet.
