AUMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ADDED
COUNTS
SENTENCING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST
Lisl Auman
(DOB: 12-25-75)
appeared in Denver District Court today and pleaded guilty to
two felony counts in connection with the events that led to the
murder of Denver police officer Bruce Vanderjagt in 1997.
Auman pleaded guilty to accessory to first-degree murder
(F4) and second-degree burglary of a building (F4) and
agreed to the maximum aggravated sentence of 20 years when she
is sentenced on August 22, 2005. (Twelve years on the accessory
charge, 8 years on the burglary charge, with credit for time
served)
As part of the guilty plea today, Auman would be allowed to
serve her sentence in community corrections. (If she is not
accepted into community corrections, she would be allowed to
withdraw her plea.) In exchange for her guilty plea, the felony
murder charge and the class 3 felony burglary charge are
dismissed.
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey declined commenting on
the disposition hearing today because of the possibility that
Auman could still face trial if she is not accepted into a
community corrections program. He deferred comment until after
sentencing is complete.
Auman was convicted
at trial of first-degree felony murder, second-degree burglary,
menacing, and conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary.
The Colorado Supreme Court overturned her conviction on the
felony murder and second-degree burglary charges earlier this
year and sent her case back to Denver District Court for a new
trial on those two charges.
