FORMER EDUCATION BOARD MEMBER PLEADS GUILTY

A woman accused of stealing more than $34,000 from the bank where she worked has pleaded guilty today.

Christine Baca (DOB: 11-20-66) appeared in Denver District Court today and pleaded guilty to Computer Crime (F4).  In exchange for the guilty plea a separate theft count was dismissed.  Baca worked at Bank of Denver and was accused of stealing money from accounts by transferring the money to herself between July 2002 and August 2004.

She is set for sentencing on April 28, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver District Courtroom 11.

Baca was a member of the Colorado State Board of Education representing the 7th Congressional District when she was charged last fall.
