DRIVER CHARGED IN HIT/RUN DEATH

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey charged a man with vehicular homicide today in connection with a hit and run death that occurred at 10th Avenue and Lincoln Street on Monday evening.

Chase Miller (12-05-74) is charged with vehicular homicide (F3), leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death (F4), DUI (M1) and reckless driving (T1).

The charges allege Chase was driving under the influence of alcohol on April 25th when he went through a red light at a high rate of speed as he was northbound on Lincoln Avenue at 10th Avenue.  His pick-up struck a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Richard Cooper.  Cooper was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Miller was arrested a short time later after fleeing the scene.  He has posted a $35,000 and has been released from custody.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on May 12, 2005 at 9 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges against him.
