WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a woman accused of taking money from the Rocky Mountain Childhood Cancer Foundation while she was volunteering for the group.

Debra Decesari (DOB: 09-02-62) is charged with theft (F4) and forgery (F5).

The charges allege that Decesari, known as Debra O’Hara by the foundation, wrote checks to herself for more than $12,000 between September 2004 and January 2005 while volunteering for the non-profit cancer group.

The foundation was formed to help families who have children with cancer  pay medical bills.  The RMCCF raises money by holding various fundraisers and accepting donations.  The money was discovered missing in January 2005 when the foundation’s board was restructured.

Decesari surrendered yesterday and was booked into the Denver County Jail before being released on a $5,000 bond.  She will appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on August 26, 2005 at 9 a.m. to be advised of the charges against her.
