CHARGES FILED IN DEATH OF CONSTRUCTION FLAGGER

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey formally charged a Littleton man today in connection with the hit and run death of a 52-year-old construction worker last week.

47-year-old Brad Edwards (01-26-58) is charged with vehicular homicide (F3), leaving the scene of an accident causing death (F4), DUI (M), running a red light and failure to obey a traffic control device.

The charges allege that Edwards was driving under the influence of alcohol when he hit Danny Faulkner, a construction flagger, near the intersection of Downing Street and Vassar Avenue just after midnight on April 8, 2005. Faulkner was thrown more than 40 feet.

Edwards has been released from jail on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Monday, April 25, 2005 at 9 a.m. in room 12T to be advised of the charges.

The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 3 felony is up to 12 years in prison; the range on a class 4 felony is up 6 years in prison.
