MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER
BODY FOUND
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has charged a man with
murder after the gruesome discovery last month of a woman’s body
found several weeks after her death. The body of 37-year-old
Kanane Herron was found May 10, 2005 by an apartment maintenance
worker investigating an odor complaint in an apartment in the
900 block of South Dexter Street in Denver.
Jeremy Ellerton
(DOB: 06-04-82)
is charged with first-degree murder (F1) in connection
with her death, which was caused by blunt force trauma to the
head.
Investigators believe Herron recently came to Denver from the
Salt Lake City area and met Ellerton, who was from Colorado
Springs, online in a “chat room.” Both were living in the
apartment on South Dexter until Herron disappeared April 12,
2005. Her body was found nearly a month later.
Ellerton was arrested on June 21, 2005 and remains in custody.
He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, to
be advised of the charge on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 9 a.m.
