CHARGES FILED IN HEROIN BUST

Morrissey has charged three men in connection with what is
believed to be the largest heroin bust ever in Denver.
Jose Almanza
(05-13-75), Marcos Gutierrez (11-16-81) and Emilio
Holguin (09-16-69) are each charged with two counts of
possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
(F3), two counts of conspiracy to distribute a
controlled substance (F3), two counts of possession of
more than a gram of a controlled substance (F3) and
importation.
The charges allege that the three
men, who are all from New Mexico, were transporting between 2
and 2 and a half pounds of heroin to Denver. They were arrested
after a traffic stop along I-25 near Hampden about 4:30 a.m.
Saturday morning, April 23, 2005.
Jose Almanza remains in custody
in the Denver County Jail and will be advised of the charges on
Friday, April 29, 2005 at 9 a.m. in Denver County Court room
12T. Marcos Gutierrez and Emilio Holguin have each been
released after posting a $100,000 bond. They will be in court
on May 11, 2005 at 9 a.m.
