MAN GETS MAX FOR ARSON DEATH

A man accused of murdering another man by pouring gasoline on his bed and lighting it on fire last year was sentenced to 63 years in prison today.

Edward Hudson (DOB 11-20-62) pleaded guilty earlier to second-degree murder (F2) and first-degree arson (F3) in connection with the death of 29-year-old William Williams on February 13, 2004.  He was found inside a burning apartment at 2232 ½ Ogden Street and was later identified through DNA.

Denver Deputy District Attorney Geanne Moroye sought the maximum sentence on behalf of the victim's wife, mother, and brothers who attended the sentencing hearing.  Hudson spoke at the hearing, offering an apology to the family.

Hudson was sentenced to 48 years in prison for second- degree murder and 15 years for first-degree arson.  The sentences will be served consecutively.
