MAN WHO CHEATED WIDOW SENTENCED
TO THE MAX
A 67-year-old man appointed as conservator for an elderly woman
has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for siphoning nearly $2
million dollars from her estate.
Henry Krausman
(DOB: 10-02-37)
pleaded guilty earlier to theft (F3).
He made a lengthy statement at his sentencing hearing today but
did not take any personal responsibility for the crime.
Denver Deputy DA Melanie Names urged the court to hand down a
lengthy prison sentence that would reflect the seriousness of
the crime Krausman committed.
Denver District Court Judge Herbert Stern called Krausman the
“poster child of white-collar crime” and sentenced him to the
maximum possible sentence of 12 years in the Department of
Corrections, noting that Krausman “still didn’t get it.”
The court reserved a restitution order against Krausman, which
is expected to exceed $2 million dollars with added legal fees
incurred by the victim's estate. The victim died in
December 2003.
