VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CHARGES FILED
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey formally charged a man
today in connection with a fatal crash that occurred over the
July 4th holiday weekend.
Marcos Alfonso Briones Madrid
(DOB: 08-06-82)
is charged with vehicular homicide (F4), three counts of
child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury (F3) and
leaving the scene of an accident (F4).
The charges stem from a crash at Sheridan Boulevard and Cedar
Avenue in the early morning hours of July 5, 2005. The crash
killed 26-year-old Alicia Arano and injured her three children,
ages 5, 6 and 7. Formal charges are pending against Arano’s
husband, Jesus Cruz (DOB: 05-14-78) in connection with the
incident.
Madrid remains in custody in the Denver County Jail. His bond
was set at $35,000. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County
Court, room 12T, on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 9 a.m. to be
advised of the charges.
