CASE UPDATES

 

Todd Mayes (DOB: 01-25-65) will appear in Denver District Court on March 17, 2005 to face sentencing in the murder of Dennis Quintana in 2003.  If he is convicted of being an habitual criminal he could face up to 96 years in prison.

 

Mayes, who had been charged with first-degree murder, was found guilty of second-degree murder by a Denver jury.  He was accused of murdering Quintana at a halfway house in December 2003.

Larry Vigil (DOB 09-27-74) appeared in Denver District Court yesterday, February 1, 2005 for sentencing in connection with a fatal shooting at a rosary in May 2003. 

 

Vigil was sentenced to life in prison plus 55 and a half years for the murdering of 19-year-old Michael Pacheco and the attempted murder of  Rose Martinez, who was 15 at the time.

 

Vigil burst into a home in the 1000 block of Quitman on May 17, 2003.  He interrupted a rosary and tried to force a woman to leave with him.  Family members intervened and as Vigil was leaving he opened fire into the home.
