NEW CHARGES FILED AGAINST DONALD
SHISSLER
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has filed new charges
against a man accused of sexually assaulting children in his
Denver home for years.
Donald Shissler
(DOB: 05-07-33) is charged today with two counts of sexual
assault on a child (F4), three counts of sexual assault
on a child by a person in a position of trust (F3) and
sexual assault on a child – pattern of conduct (F3).
Shissler has been in the Department of Corrections serving a
potential life sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of
sexual assault on a child in 2002. In exchange for his guilty
plea, prosecutors agreed not to file additional charges related
to new victims. Last month a judge overturned the guilty pleas
and has ordered a new trial for Shissler. The ruling also
clears the way for new charges on behalf of additional victims.
The charges filed today allege that Shissler lured a 6-year-old
boy into his home between 1997 and 2002 and repeatedly assaulted
him. The victim is now 14.
Shissler is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court,
division 10, for a status hearing on the 2002 case on November
21, 2005 at 8:30 a.m.
He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, for
formal advisement on the new charges on December 1, 2005 at 9
a.m.
He remains in custody.
